The film recreates the image of the flooded city Stavropol that had been destroyed, and then reconstructed as the town Tolyatti due to the building of the hydroelectric station. The city does not exist anymore, only in personal and public archives. The home of my great grandparents, where my grandmother was raised, was first constructed in Stavropol and then moved and rebuilt in the new town Tolyatti.
My grandmother spent her childhood in Stavropol, where the old family photos were taken. I know about this city from her account as well as other relatives. The house always served as a showpiece of that period, similar to the inherited objects from my great grandparents.
My goal is to convey the feeling of the town based on the stories my grandmother told of her childhood and youth in Stavropol, old family photos, abandoned buildings that were also part of my childhood memories, the objects in the house, the house itself and the objects that appeared in the stories.
The film is done in CGI in order to find out the ways of applying 3D CGI for experimental animation, to tell emotional and personal story using the unique instruments that the 3D CGI medium can offer, and showing the presence of the author and the traces left through accidents and mistakes
